I was catching up reading the New Yorker and came across this great article by Elizabeth Kolbert July 7, 2008: The Island in the Wind.

It's about a small Danish town, Samsø, and their conversion to renewable energy. It reminded me of what's happening in Chicago, at least in the social aspect. We are building some critical mass here for environmental consciousness. Much of it is building around community. It makes sense.
