While there's been an environmental movement in the United States for a long time, many good people have been disconnected from that effort- other things, like jobs and inexpensive goods, may have seemed more important- or maybe more urgent.
Now, we're seeing a convergence- it's not just the people on the outer edges of our culture thinking and acting with the environment in mind, but also exemplary people in the mainstream, from every party and religion, income level and age and race.
Our Original Green Heroes are some of the people that have been far ahead of the curve- those who have questioned and investigated and researched and advocated on the way we interact with the environment to meet human needs, and how that impacts the kinds of economic and social decisions we make. We'll keep adding more. Their stories are really inspiring.
